Jackie Loomis, 59, of Creston died Feb. 4, 2014, at her home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25. The Rev. Jim Woodworth and Mary O’Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Open visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be left at powersfh.com.

Jacqueline Loomis, daughter of Helen Mildred (Dicks) and Earl Frances Piearson, was born May 29, 1954, in Story City.

Jackie was educated in Creston Schools and went on to study at SWCC and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. 

Jackie’s first husband was Richard Tennant. They lived and worked in Omaha. They later divorced.

On Aug. 20, 1976, Jackie married Dennis Loomis in Creston.

Jackie worked at Crest Haven Care Centre as activities director from 1975-79 and also as a CNA. She worked for Iowa Department of Social Services from 1979-81 and the Department of Human Services from 1981-82. Jackie also was a cook at Creston Community Schools from 1982-88. Jackie then worked for Southern Iowa Residential Facilities from 1988-2014, recently serving as executive director.

Jackie was a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational) where she taught Sunday school. Earlier, she was a part of the First Baptist Church, where she helped in the nursery. Jackie had served as past president of Association for Retarded Citizens, past president for Iowa Parents of Visually Impaired Children, past vice chairperson for Creston Pilot Parents and Iowa Assistive Technology Council.

Jackie is survived by her daughters, Stacy (husband Kevin) Reed of Basehor, Kan., Jennifer Winners (significant other Casey Fix) of Storm Lake, Elizabeth (husband Adonis) Loomis-Montoya of Creston and Rebecca Loomis of Omaha, Neb.; mother Helen Still of Omaha, Ark.; brothers, John Piearson of Omaha, Ark., Clare Piearson (significant other Donna) of Saint Petersburg, Fla., and Edward Piearson and George (wife Brenda) Still, all of Omaha, Ark.; and grandchildren, Aubreeanna Dolan-Winners, Kaitlyn Tennant, Rylee Winners, Janelle Winners and Dionta Reed.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, husband Dennis, infant daughter Gabrielle, granddaughter Madison Marie Winners, sister in infancy Mary Margaret and brother Andy Still.
