Panther bowlers sweep Central Decatur

LEON — The Creston/Orient-Macksburg bowling teams historically struggle to post high scores at Leon Lanes, but that didn’t stop them from sweeping Central Decatur here on Saturday.

“Saturday’s meet ended up being a very tough day for us,” head coach Ron Pendegraft said. “As always, Leon was a very difficult place for us to score. Only five of our 24 individual games were over 170, and in Baker rounds, our highest game was 144 between both boys and girls.”

The Panther girls posted a 1950-1285 win over Central Decatur, while the boys scored a 2011-1912 win over the host Cardinals.

Madison Hance paced the Panther girls, rolling consistent games of 171 and 172 for a two-game series of 343. Charley Parcher had the high game of the day with a 180 and finished with a series of 321.

Taylor Suiter posted a series of 256, while Aly Downey rolled a score of 253. Emily Stults rounded out the team scoring with her total of 191. Jordan Phillips finished the day with a score of 188.

On the boys side, Darin Hatfield led the way for the Panthers with games of 168 and 183 for a two-game total of 351. Blake Eddy bowled a 332 series and Brett Cheers finished the day with a total of 314.

Sebastian Peterson rolled a 218 series and Tyler Shepherd rounded out the team scoring with his series of 159. Jacob Geary posted a two-game series of 134 for the Panthers.

“We still managed to come away with wins for both teams and have put that day to rest,” Pendegraft said. “We are now looking forward to this Saturday’s match with Lewis Central. It will be senior day for us and I hope we can get a good crowd to cheer the kids on.”

Creston/O-M hosts Lewis Central at 1 p.m. Saturday at Panther Lanes in the final regular season home meet of the year. It will be senior day for the Panthers.
