Creston

The Friends of the Library have several fundraising events coming up in the next few weeks. We are again selling cookie bouquets for Valentine’s Day. Orders can be left at the Creston Public Library. You can select either six cookies or 12 cookies, and we will deliver free in Creston.

On Feb. 22, the Friends are sponsoring a teen dance at the Lincoln School. The dance has a Sadie Hawkins theme. It is open to middle school-age students from 7 to 9 p.m. and high school-age students from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The dance will be DJ’d by Josh Shields from Rebel DJ. Cost is $5.

On March 1, we will be having a scrapbooking event at Quilts and Other Notions Creative Center from 8:30 a.m. to 11p.m. The cost is $25. Lunch and dinner will be provided, and we will have several vendors available, as well as door prizes, a silent auction and goody bags. Registration forms are available at the library or by calling Karen Walter at 782-4357.

The proceeds from these fundraisers are used to fund the summer reading program, help pay for staff training, purchase new books for the library and any other needs the library has that are not in their budget. Last year, we donated $6,000 for the purchase of new books and paid for the Science Center of Iowa presentation, as well as the Dino O’Dell program.

We hope all of the community will support our efforts to benefit the library. Promoting reading is very important in everyone’s life. The Friends of the Library want the Creston Public Library to be a wonderful place for everyone to visit.

Please support the library.
