Chad Steven Kelley, 36, of Thayer was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn after an accident 1:36 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Sumner Avenue and West Taylor Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Kelley, driving a 2009 Chevrolet south on South Sumner, turned east onto West Taylor into the path of a 2008 Toyota driven north on South Sumner by Steve Roger Howe, 61, 1356 Cherry Street Road, and collided with the driver’s side of Howe’s vehicle. Both drivers said they had a green light. Kelley said he looked, saw the green light and turned without seeing Howe’s vehicle. Kelley also said he had been coming from an eye appointment, where his eyes were dilated, and he was unsure if that played a role in the accident.

Damage estimates are $1,000 to Howe’s vehicle and $1,600 to Kelley’s vehicle.
