Lorane Leonard, 83, of Corning died Feb. 13, 2014, at Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning. The Revs. Shurmaine McAlpine and Andrew Bardole will officiate.

Interment will be in Prairie Rose Cemetery in Adams County. Open visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Southwest Iowa, Alzheimer’s Association of Iowa and/or Corning United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Edith Lorane (Lynam) Leonard, daughter of Ralph and Edith Lynam, was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Corning. 

Lorane attended school in Adams County and graduated from Corning High School with a normal training certificate in 1948.  

On Dec. 26, 1949, Lorane married Arnold Leonard.

After the couple was married, they moved to the Leonard homestead in 1949.

Lorane taught country school for the first three years of their marriage.

In 1952, Lorane retired from teaching and became a homemaker and farm wife.

Lorane was a member of Eastern Star and Rose Ann Auxiliary.

Lorane is survived by her husband Arnold Leonard of Corning, son Kirk (wife Karen) Leonard of Saint Louis, Mo.; daughter-in-law Julie Leonard of Kenmore, Wash.; grandchildren, Chris Leonard of Kenmore, Wash., Brant Leonard of West Des Moines and Brynn Phillips of Knoxville; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Karsten of Ankeny and Ryan and Josh O’Roake of Newton; sister-in-law Phyllis Buck of Johnston, brother-in-law Cliff Bradley of Corning and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lorane was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Lee Bradley, sister-in-law Arlene Powell, brother-in-law Dan Leonard Jr. and son Rick Leonard.
