Greater Regional Hospice provides great care

From the family of Leonard Feld (Laura Feld)

The family of Leonard Feld would like to publicly acknowledge the AWESOME staff at Greater Regional Hospice House. The facility itself is a credit to the area as are all the contributors who had the vision to invest in the house. However, the true HEART of the Hospice House is the wonderful group of nurses and aides who lovingly and skillfully cared for my dad as well as the rest of the family.

Dad had visited many friends over the years at the Hospice House. We were regular visitors in July and August because our special friend was there. We arrived late on a Friday afternoon after an exhausting day at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. We were welcomed by familiar faces who made us feel as if we were home. We were there from Feb. 1 to Feb. 11. Dad received excellent care and as various family and friends visited, they commented on the exceptional staff who made them feel welcome and at ease.

I am sure that the Greater Regional Hospital Board gave their decision serious study and research. It is unfortunate that the bottom line has to impact a program like this. One can only hope that HCI will work to retain the true HEART of the Creston Hospice Program - the devoted staff who have taken care of so many of our community members and made it a true “home” experience.

Thank you to all the investors who had the vision and special thanks to all the professionals who helped my dad have a very dignified, personal end of life.
