From Ruby Stephens
Food for Life is a mission project that could not continue without the donations of meat and money that supplied meat for over 2,000 people this past year. This meat goes to our friends and neighbors during a hard time in their life.
To the farmers who donate the animals, I want to review the scheduling to take animals to the Corning Locker, 641-322-3614. The USDA inspector is there on Wednesday morning at 7 to 7:30 a.m. We need this inspection to be sure the meat at the food pantries are safe for our friends. Because the locker is so busy, we can hardly ever take an animal in an emergency situation. To schedule a butchering date, I will be happy to do that for you or you can schedule, but if you schedule, be sure to tell them it is for Food for Life, because we pay the processing costs and send you information for tax purposes.
A big thank you to Dave Walter, owner of the Corning Locker; he keeps this USDA license especially to help us with this mission project.
A huge thank you to all you caring people who make the donations that have kept Food for Life active these 30 years.
