Charles Ford, 62, of Mount Ayr was cited for simple assault after a road rage incident Feb. 7.
According to an Afton Police report, Sheri Cormeny of Afton was driving east on Highway 34 when she came up behind a Co-op Semi tractor and grain trailer. She passed the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle sped up, drove close to her vehicle and kept his headlights on bright. When she arrived in Afton, the vehicle turned east on East Railroad and parked by the Co-op in the 100 block of East Railroad. Cormeny drove around the square and stopped in front of the vehicle to ask what was wrong. The driver, identified as Ford, was upset at her for not using a turn signal when she passed him. He reached into her car, grabbed her hand and placed it on the turn-signal lever. He yelled at Cormeny that this is what you are supposed to use when you pass people, then walked off.
Ford was cited to appear in Union County District Court.
