All Iowa: From left, Lexie Heckman, Brenna Baker and Michelle Powers of Creston High School were selected in September for the All-Iowa Drill Team to perform Saturday at the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Wells Fargo Arena. More than 500 girls tried out for the All-Iowa squad. Baker suffered a meniscus tear during the basketball season, which required surgery, and she will not be able to perform. Heckman and Powers will perform with the state dance team during the Class 3A championship game that begins at 4 p.m. Saturday. Both are in the kick section of the routine.

Lamoni wins

INDIANOLA — Lamoni moved to 25-0 with a 64-41 victory over Pleasantville in a Class 1A substate game here Saturday. The Demons pulled away with a 23-7 third quarter.

Pleasantville bows out at 20-5.

Girls banquet

The Creston girls basketball banquet will be held 6 p.m. Thursday in the high school commons.

Coach Larry McNutt announced it will be a pizza buffet provided by Panther girls basketball. Families do not need to bring anything.

NCAA qualifier

DUBUQUE — Simpson College 197-pounder Jared Bevins of Creston participated in the NCAA Division III regional tournament Saturday at University of Dubuque.

Bevins (10-15) lost by fall to Tyler Lowy, Central, 4:50 and was pinned by Matt Suprenant, Knox College, which ends his career for the Storm.
