Nodaway Valley places four on POI all-conference

A total of nine area players were named to the Pride of Iowa boys all-conference basketball team announced Monday, with four on the first team.

Nodaway Valley leads the way with four selections, followed by Lenox with two, while Mount Ayr, East Union and Southwest Valley each had one representative.

Area first-teamers are Lenox sophomore Spencer Brown, Mount Ayr senior Jack Jones and Nodaway Valley’s TJ Bower and Jackson Lamb.

Jones, Bower and Lamb were all unanimous selections to the first team.

Bower led the Wolverines with 20.4 points per game and finished second in total rebounds with 124 for a 5.0 per game average. The senior also finished with team-highs in assists (139) and steals (80), while ranking second in blocked shots with 14.

Lamb had a breakout sophomore campaign, averaging 18.0 points per game and shooting 44.4 percent from behind the 3-point line. He also averaged 4.1 rebounds per game and ranked second on the team in assists (91) and steals (78), while leading the team in blocked shots with 15.

Jones led Mount Ayr with his 13.6 points per game average. The Raider senior finished the year with 22 assists and a team-high 42 steals.

Brown averaged a double-double this season for Lenox, averaging 16.5 points per game to tie for the team lead and a team-high 10.7 rebounds per game. Brown blocked 41 shots and finished with 35 assists and 32 steals.

Lenox junior Caleb Lange and Nodaway Valley senior Zach Plymesser were unanimous selections to the Pride of Iowa Conference second team. Joining them on the second team were Nodaway Valley senior Delson Grantham, East Union junior Cole Campbell and Southwest Valley senior Keegan Longabaugh.

Lange also averaged 16.5 points per game for the Tigers to go with his 7.5 rebounds per game and 41 assists.

Plymesser averaged 11.2 points per game for Nodaway Valley to go with 5.2 rebounds per game. Grantham led the Wolverines with 6.9 rebounds per game and scored at a 9.7 per game clip.

Campbell led East Union with 9.5 points per game, 67 assists and 38 steals. Longabaugh led the Timberwolves with 12.9 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game and 27 assists.
