No citations were issued after an accident 5:55 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Highway 34 and Willow Avenue.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Jared Lee Jackson, 19, of Van Wert, driving a 2002 Dodge east on Highway 34 and pulling a 2011 Feather Lite trailer, struck a 2006 Ford driven south on Third Street in Thayer by Zachory Taylor Welcher, 19, of Thayer. Welcher said he was blinded by the sun when he pulled out into the path of Jackson’s vehicle. A bull cow, owned by Robert Lee Jackson of Van Wert, was also involved in the collision.

Miranda Groves, 15, of Afton, a passenger in Welcher’s vehicle, was injured in the collision. She was transported to Greater Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where her status is unknown at this time.

Damage estimates are $10,000 to Welcher’s vehicle, $8,000 to Jackson’s vehicle, $4,000 to the Feather Lite trailer and $3,000 in loss of Jackson’s bull cow.
