Red Harvey, age 95, of Manning, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning.

Darrell Miller Harvey, son of Clarence and Eva (Miller) Harvey, was born May 26, 1918, at Red Oak, Iowa and grew up in Creston. He graduated from Creston High School in 1936, and attended a junior college in Creston. In November of 1940, Red enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Chicago, Illinois and Norfolk, Virginia and served aboard the USS Wyoming, USS Alcor and USS Saturn.
On May 23, 1943, Red was united in marriage with Ruth Maxine Krisinger in Norfolk. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946. Red and Ruth then returned to Creston where he worked as a parts man for International Harvester. In 1972, the IH Store in Creston closed and Red moved his family to Albert City where he worked for IH until his retirement. During the late 80s and early 90s, Red and Ruth enjoyed spending the winters in Bullhead City, Arizona. In 1992, they moved to Manning to be closer to family.
Red was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, going to the casino, and watching almost all sports, especially Cubs baseball, and Iowa and Iowa State basketball and football.
Red is survived by his wife Ruth Harvey of Manning; three children: Judy Meyer of Harlan; Steve Harvey and wife Julie of Waukee; and Debbie Grimm of Manning; seven grandchildren: Pam Meyer; Shari Leinbaugh and husband Rick; Julie Thompson and husband Larry; Sheila Hansen and husband Jim; Chris Harvey; Shawn Harvey; and Jason Harvey and wife Emmy; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Red was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Herm; a sister Faye; and two sons-in-law Kirk Herbert and Jon Grimm.
