Meridith Blazek, 67, of rural Orient died March 18, 2014, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield. The Rev. Cheryl Sjolin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Meridith Kay Blazek, daughter of Betty Marie (Laursen) and Martin Wilbur Skaug, was born Feb. 18, 1947, in Atlantic.
Meridith has lived in or near Marne twice, Carson, Walnut, Lewis, Atlantic, Prescott, Creston, Anita and Orient.
Meridith graduated from Atlantic High School in 1965. She then went on and graduated from Southwestern Community College in Creston on June 8, 1967.
On June 11, 1967, Meridith married Vern Wayne Blazek in Creston.
Meridith was past president of Anita United Methodist Women, Anita Citizens for Education, Silver Thread Club, Brea Busy Bee Club and Avondale United Methodist Women. She was on Adair County Pork Board for four years. Meridith taught Sunday school and Bible school for 32 years.
Meridith is survived by her husband Vern Blazek of Orient; children, Irene Kay Blazek of Woodbine, Linda Ann (husband Mike) Blazek Garvin of Polk City, Glenda Marie (husband Eric) Still of Tacoma, Wash., and Martin Wayne (wife Staci) Blazek of Alexandria, Ind.; grandchildren, Kayla Marie and Krista Jean Garvin, Melissa Kay and Vincent Michael Pauley, Benjamin Eric and Alyssa Marie Still and Drew Christopher and Emily Marie Blazek; other relatives and friends.
Meridith was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Carol Sue, brother (stillborn) and mother- and father-in-law.
