George Kuhns

George Kuhns, 60, of Belton, Mo., died March 6, 2014, at home.

George was cremated. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Heartland Hospice, Kansas City, Mo.

George Vaughn Kuhns, son of Sharron (Holder) and Russell Kuhns, was born May 3, 1953.

George graduated from Creston High School in 1971.

On Sept. 8, 1973, George married Denise Brownrigg at St. Malachy’s Church in Creston.  

George served as a police officer in Creston and Emmetsburg.

After graduating from Buena Vista College in 1989, George moved his family to Belton, Mo., to work for Government Services Administration (GSA) as a quality assurance specialist. He retired after 17 years of service.

George was a Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

George is survived by his wife Denise; daughter Allyson (Chris) Wohlford of Liberty, Mo.; sons, Tony, Aaron and Alex, all of Belton, Mo.; grandchildren, Shane, Aden and Kaydence of Belton, Mo.; mother Sharron Kuhns of Story City, brother Jason (Rikki) Kuhns of Adel, sister Debra (Don) Hinderaker of Story City, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
