New Spartan coach gains two 2014 recruits

New Southwestern Community College head volleyball coach Ting Liu didn’t have to travel far to find the first two recruits.

Madison Walston of Bedford and Carmen Subbert of Stanton will be suiting up for the Spartans during the 2014 season.

Subbert, a 5-foot-7 outside hitter, was named all-conference, all-district, and all-southwest Iowa for all four years of high school. She was named all-state first team for two years and all-state second team for one year.

Subbert, who will graduate from Stanton High School in May, is the daughter of Bruce and Karen Subbert of Stanton.

Walston, a 5-11 middle hitter, was a first team all-conference hitter, first team all-district hitter, and first team all-southwest Iowa selection during her high school career.

She has been on the honor roll and will graduate from Bedford High School in May. She is the daughter of Paul and Molly Walston of Bedford.
