Creston Special Olympics team competes at state

On Saturday, March 15, eight Special Olympics athletes from the Creston Elementary/Middle School participated in basketball skills and cheerleading at the state competition.

Opening ceremonies were held March 14 with a banquet for all the athletes.

The cheerleading team received a second place finish for their performance in their division.

Members of the team include Tina-Sue Richards, Dallis Perkins, Makayla Burgmaier and Christina Newcomb.

Four athletes — who won the district level competition — qualified for state competition in basketball skills.

They include Mason Perkins and Isaac Ralston — who both placed fourth at state. Kayla Bendt placed second and KyLee Richards took third at state.

Coaches for the Creston Elementary/Middle School Special Olympics are Randall Romesburg and Autumn Huffstutlear.
