Nearly 500 participants expected for FNB’s Glow Run
McKinley Park will be glowing Saturday evening as 470 brightly-colored runners and walkers are expected for the inaugural Hope Glows 5K run. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.
It is First National Bank’s fundraiser to benefit Relay for Life and American Cancer Society.
“Our goal for the first year was 150 participants,” said co-organizer Chantel Klejch, personal banker at FNB. “But, we realized after early bird registration we were going to exceed that goal and that we would need to find a lot more volunteers.”
Klejch said registration is still open for this event online by visiting www.fnbcreston.com. You can also registered in person at both FNB locations in Creston. The registration fee is $25.
The fee includes a T-shirt in your choice of six glowing colors and glow swag.
“If you registered this week, though, you won’t get your T-shirt until after race day. We had to order more,” Klejch said.
Runners can pick up their registration packets 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First National Bank on 801 W. Taylor Street in Creston. Packets will also be available before the race at 6:30 p.m. on the west side of McKinley Park at the large shelter house.
The event will take place rain or shine.
Fireworks shot off by Creston Shooters will start the race at 7:30 p.m. There will be prizes for “best glowers” and top three finishers.
First place in both categories (best glower and finisher) will receive an iPod Shuffle. Second and third places will receive a decorative Hope Glows boulder donated by Winterstien Construction.
Brats, bananas and water will be provided by Hy-Vee following the race. Music entertainment will be provided by Double T’s Djn during and after the race.
All registration fees are non-refundable and will be donated to Relay for Life. For questions or more information, contact FNB at 641-782-2195.
