Golf opener

The Creston/O-M golf season opens Thursday, with the defending state-champion Panther boys hosting Atlantic at Pine Valley, and the girls traveling to Nishna Hills Golf Club in Atlantiic.

A preview of the Panther golf teams will appear in Thursday’s News Advertiser.

Clinic change

The youth baseball clinic to be directed by coach Bill Krejci this weekend at Southwestern Community College will be limited to boys in fifth through eighth grades.

“This is due to the overwhelming demand and the need to ensure that the clinic is safe and the group size is conducive to learning,” said Scott Driskell, president of Creston Baseball/Softball Association.

The hitting clinic is Saturday and the clinic for pitchers and catchers is Sunday, both starting at 1 p.m.

National event

Kyle, national runner-up a year ago, returns to the national event in the 12-13 age division this weekend in Springfield, Mass., home of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Area track

Area track results from Tuesday’s meets at East Union, Nodaway Valley and Clarinda will be published in Thursday’s CNA sports section.
