Darlene Foster, 86, of Cromwell died April 15, 2014, at Calvin Community in Des Moines.

Services were Friday, April 18, at Faith Chapel in Ankeny. Visitation was Thursday, April 17 at Memorial Services of Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Women or Calvin Community Foundation.

Darlene Lucille Foster, daughter of Everett L. and Ella Clare (Reynolds) Franklin, was was born November 8, 1927, on a farm near Carbon, Iowa. Darlene graduated from Cromwell High School.

On Nov. 6, 1948, Darlene married Gene William Foster. They made their home in Saylor Township, where they raised their two children. Darlene worked for many years as a school secretary in the Saydel School District.

Darlene was a founding, active member of Faith United Methodist Church, now Faith Chapel.

She is survived by her two children, Mark William (wife DeArra) Foster and Susan Diane (husband Howard John) Lees Iber; grandchildren, Kate Ashley Foster, Emily Beth (husband Chad) Bissell, Nathan Michael (Theresa) Lees, Matthew Robert Lees, and step-grandchildren, Mignon Justine (husband Shawn) Finn and Laurel Marie Iber; great-grandchildren, Avery Jane, Lauren Reese Bissell, Isaac Michael and Noah Gregory Lees.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene (2010), brother Russel Franklin and sister Verleta Richardson.
