In regards to Brian Zachary’s letter to the editor concerning a home for an art center, I have a wonderful solution provided the business sector, industries and citizens of Creston get busy, pull together and provide our town with an updated library.
Moving the city library from its current location to the old Lincoln School would then enable the old library to become Creston’s art center. It’s as simple as that.
The building is large enough to provide storage for supplies, space for classes and workshops, not to mention display area for local artists. The space in uptown, it has an outside entrance, electricity, sink and bathroom — all criteria for Creston:Arts.
As I see it, it is a win-win situation.
Creston’s industries, businesses and citizens need to act fast. I know the Creston City Council is not going to wait forever for the library to be moved. Fundraising needs to get done, the library needs to be moved, and then a new art center can go in at 200 W. Howard.
