SAVANNA (MCT) – A regular traffic stop in rural Savanna on Monday turned into a rather large arrest for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies say that after pulling over an Iowa man, they found 32 pounds of pot in his car.
Eric T. Irwin, of Nampa, Iowa, was charged with trafficking marijuana.
A Carroll County sheriff’s deputy pulled Irwin over for a regular traffic stop when the deputy requested a K-9 unit, according to a news release.
When the extra car arrived, the dog, Illo, “hit” on the car, at which point deputies found the marijuana.
Irwin was taken to Carroll County Jail on Monday. The sentence for drug trafficking can range anywhere from 6 to 30 years in prison.
