Dick McClure Afton

Dick McClure, 70, of Afton died May 2, 2014, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. 

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery in Wayne County. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dickie Louis McClure was born Nov. 11, 1943, in Leon.

Dick graduated from Leon High School in 1962.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War as an F4 jet mechanic and was stationed in Vietnam and the Philippines.

On April 27, 1969, Dick married Fonda Ann Williams in Denver, Colo.

Dick worked as a boxer at Bunn-O-Matic in Creston, retiring in 2008.

Dick is survived by his wife Fonda McClure of Afton; daughter Lynn (Tim) McKnight of Indianola; son Eric McClure of Afton; stepdaughter Jeanie (Neil) Inglis of New Zealand; granddaughter Mackenzie McKnight, grandson Matthew McKnight; and sister Judy Gillespie of Chicago.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Marjorie McClure; and son William Ronald “Billy” McClure.
