Nathan Richard Hulett, 38, 212 S. Pine St., was charged with driving while suspended 5:36 p.m. Sunday at 405 S. Sumner Ave.

According to a Creston Police report, officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle after a report that the driver and passengers were inhaling aerosol cans. Officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Hulett by Iowa identification card. It was confirmed through dispatch that Hulett was driving on a suspended license.

Hulett was released on $300 bond.

Hollis Kendall Major, 39, of Council Bluffs was charged with operating while intoxicated 4:14 a.m. today at Moonlite Motel, 704 New York Ave.

According to a Creston Police report, officers received complaints concerning the driver of a blue Mercury Tracer driving recklessly and speeding. The witness described the driver as having blonde hair and a ponytail. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle, but was initially unsuccessful. The witness called again, stating they had seen the vehicle parked by Taco John’s, 708 S. Walnut St. Officers were traveling toward the business when they met the vehicle, and turned around. The vehicle matched the description and appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers engaged the emergency lights and the vehicle pulled over in the Moonlite Motel parking lot. The driver was identified as Major, and matched the description from the witness. Major appeared to be under the influence as he was jerking and fidgeting as if he was excited or had excessive energy. Officers noticed he had muscle tremors in his neck, arms and eye lids. Officers conducted a field sobriety test and Major showed significant signs of impairment. Major refused to provide a sample of his urine for testing after being transported to Union County Law Enforcement Center.

Major was released on $1,000 bond.

Louis Bender, 604 S. Division St., reported a debit card, 40 CDs, one DVD, two-edge sword with a red jewel, black ninja sword, black and red ninja sword, 18V cordless drill, spotting scope and eight-inch tanto blade knife were taken from his residence between 3:04 and 7:59 p.m. Thursday.

Loss estimate is $395.
