Odette Gisele Mathis, 88, 235 Myrtle St., was cited for failure to maintain control after an accident 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of South Sumner and New York avenues.

According to a Creston Police report, Mathis, driving a 2007 Chevrolet west on New York, failed to make a right turn onto South Sumner and struck a 1998 Ford driven south on South Sumner by Breanna Elaine Schwarz, 22, 705 W. Adams St. Apt. 1. Schwarz was at the stop light at the intersection at South Sumner and New York waiting to make a right turn onto Sheldon Street. Mathis left the scene and made the report from her house. Mathis was very confused and gave an original report of the accident happening at Walmart, which was incorrect.

Damage estimates are $5,500 to Schwarz’ vehicle and $3,000 to Mathis’ vehicle.
