Alice Brown, 66, of Carroll died May 4, 2014, at her home.

Mass of the Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Rev. Timothy Johnson officiated. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll was in charge of arrangements. Memorials be given to the National Diabetes Association or Special Olympics, and may be left at the funeral home or the church. Online condolences may be left at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Alice Marie Brown, daughter of Rose L. (Kasperbauer) and Alfred W. Sondgeroth, was born March 30, 1948, in Carroll.

Alice lived in Carroll until she was in the eighth grade, when her family moved to Creston.

Alice graduated from Creston High School in 1966.

After high school, she went to nursing school at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and became an LPN.

On June 15, 1974, Alice married William Brown at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll by Msgr. Lenze.

The couple made their home in Carroll, and Alice worked at Carroll Manor Nursing Home for several years and then St. Anthony Regional Hospital for more than 25 years. She also worked at New Hope Village.

Alice was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and R.S.V.P.

Alice is survived by her husband Bill of Carroll; sister Dorothy (husband Ron) Dunphy of Creston; brother-in-law Robert (wife Kathy) Brown of Glidden; sister-in-law Bonnie (husband Scott) Jensenof Carroll; nephew Todd (wife Susan) Dunphy of Creston; niece-in-law Dana Dunphy; and several cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Janice in infancy, and nephew Tom Dunphy.
