From Brad Hartkopf
The 3rd Congressional district seat in Iowa is open now that Rep. Tom Latham has decided not to run for re-election. I thank Mr. Latham for his many years of service to the people of Iowa. We need another leader in the United States House who will represent the interests of the people in the 3rd district well and find bipartisan solutions to the problems America faces. The person best suited for that job is Monte Shaw.
The voters know how important the agricultural/renewable fuels industry is to Iowa. Monte has been the executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association since 2005. The renewable fuel standard is coming under fire in D.C. Monte understands how vital the standard is to Iowa farm families and to consumers who want a choice at the pump.
Monte is a conservative man who will stand on his principles. He also understands that to win a general election in a swing district like Iowa’s 3rd Congressional, it will take a broad coalition of voters to send him to victory. I am supporting Monte Shaw for Congress in the Republican primary on June 3rd because he is the one candidate in the race who is conservative, yet can still win over Independents and conservative Democrats in November because of who he is and what he stands for.
