Murray 14, Lenox 3

LENOX — Murray scored 14 runs on 14 hits in a 14-3 win over Lenox here on Wednesday.

Madison Gonseth hit a two-run home run in the first inning, while Deena Snyder knocked in a two-run double in the first. Kate Patton hit a three-run double in the sixth inning. Chellsea Jones added an RBI double in the sixth.

“We started well and finished well,” Murray head coach Danny Jensen said. “We put five on the board in the first and six on the board in the sixth. Our hitting was up and down the lineup as all nine had at least one hit.”

Patton struck out seven in the win.

Shantelle Brown hit an RBI triple for Lenox. Aurora Arevalo also drove in one run.

Katie Dukes walked four and struck out one in three innings in the pitching circle, while Bethany Christensen walked three with no strikeouts.

Murray improved to 3-0 for the season with the win. The Lady Mustangs host their tournament this weekend.

Mount Ayr 10, Bedford 5

MOUNT AYR — Mount Ayr scored two runs in each of the first three innings on its way to a 10-5 win over Bedford here on Thursday.

Ashton Johnson picked up three hits and one RBI from the leadoff position, while Macy Larsen, Paige Daughton and Megan Warin each drove in two runs on two hits for the Raiderettes. Kirsten Dolecheck drove in one run on two hits for Mount Ayr.

Mount Ayr returns to action today at Southeast Warren in a Pride of Iowa Conference matchup.
