SWCD/NRCS pasture walk to be held

Union County Soil and Water Conservation (SWCD) and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is hosting a pasture walk 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Todd and Tim Dunphy’s pasture located near Creston.

NRCS Grassland Specialist Rick Sprague will be covering topics on the importance of forage management, grazing and rest periods along with regrowth in pastures. Participants can also view a CRP wildlife pasture buffer and see how it can work with a grazing system.

Directions to the Dunphy’s from Creston are: travel east on Highway 34 to Jaguar Avenue then 1 1/2 miles north or 2 miles east on 160th Street/Townline Road.
