No citations were issued after an accident 9:37 a.m. Tuesday on South Elm Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Douglas James Veenstra, 43, of Tracy, driving a 1999 Ford north on Elm, approached the railroad crossing, stopped for the activated railroad crossing arm, owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, then the arm went up and the tracks were clear, Veenstra proceeded across the railroad crossing when the crossing arm again activated and lowered, it struck the top right corner of a cubed refrigeration unit on the top of the truck.

A witness to the accident said Veenstra was clear to proceed and the arm came down before Veenstra had a chance to yield.

Damage estimates are $400 to Veenstra’s vehicle and $11,000 to the railroad arm.
