Lenox 13, East Union 7
LENOX — Lenox survived seven errors to post a 13-7 win over East Union here on Wednesday.
The Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and five more in the second inning to build an 8-1 lead.
Katie Dukes and Beth Christensen combined to allow seven runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
Christensen went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Shantelle Brown was 3-4 with four runs batted in for Lenox. Macey Newlin went 3-4 with three RBI. Auorra Arevalo hit a triple and drove in two runs. Morgan Newlin drove in one run.
"Another good night hitting, but woefull fielding," Lenox head coach Tom Shields said. "Stil looking for consistency in several avenues of the game."
Chay Blondowski finished with three hits for East Union, while Katlin Weinkoetz and Danielle Riley each had two hits. Emily Eckels and Cassidy Riley both stole four bases apiece.
Danielle Riley took the loss in the circle, going three innings with 10 runs allowed on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Cali Foglesong pitched three innings of relief.
Murray 4, Interstate 35 2
MURRAY — Class 1A No. 13 Murray topped Class 3A No. 6 Interstate 35 here Wednesday night, 4-2.
The Roadrunners were threatening in the top of the seventh, with two runners on and two outs, with senior shortstop Jenna Sandquist at the plate.
Sandquist hit a two-strike pitch deep to left field, and Chellsea Jones made the catch at the top of the fence, giving Murray the win.
"It was a great defensive play for our team," Murray head coach Danny Jensen said. "It was a big win for the girls."
Brandi Gilbert hit a two-run double in the third inning, after Madison Gonseth had hit an RBI single in the second inning. Megan Oswald hit an RBI double in the fourth inning to finish the scoring for Murray.
Kate Patton picked up the win in the circle, scattering eight hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
Murray 12, Diagonal 0
MURRAY — Murray scored 12 runs on 11 hits in a 12-0 win over Diagonal here on Thursday.
Chellsea Jones hit a two-run home run in the first inning to cap off a seven-run inning for the Lady Mustangs.
Kate Patton pitched a not hitter, and finished a home run short of hitting for the cycle, while driving in three runs. McKenzie McIntosh finished with two hits and two RBI. Maddy Martin drove in one run and Madison Gonseth had two RBI.
