Creston freshman softball lost four conference games late last week to Glenwood and Carroll Kuemper Catholic, but competed much better at Kuemper on Friday.

Glenwood took a pair of 12-0 games Thursday. Cammy Rutherford's double was the only Panther hit in the opener. Glenwood's pitcher tossed a no-hitter in the second game.

Angel Stow and Cayla Maitlen each had two hits in a 10-3 loss to Kuemper Catholic on Friday. Stow drove in two runs and Maitlen hit a triple. Taylor Fredrickson also hit a triple.

Hannah Fogle pitched five innings with one strikeout and three walks.

Kuemper won the second game, 13-8. MyKenna Hribal was 2-of-2 with an RBI for the Panthers and Caitlyn Clayton also had two hits. Pitching statistics for this game were unavailable.

"Even though we came up short both games, we had several positives," Creston coach Rich Gander said. "We were able to put the ball in p;lay and score runs. Cayla Maitlen had a nice first game at shortstop."

A return doubleheader matchup with Kuemper Catholic is next for the Panthers at home Friday starting at 11 a.m.
