ORIENT — Nodaway Valley, Murray, Lenox and Orient-Macksburg were first round winners at the Orient-Macksburg Softball Tournament Wednesday night.
Nodaway Valley opened the event with an 8-2 victory over Mormon Trail. Player of the game was Nodaway Valley’s Josie Carter.
Murray followed with a 9-0 victory over East Union. Player of the game was Murray’s McKenzie McIntosh.
Lenox edged Grandview Park Baptist 3-2. Player of the game was Lenox’s Shantelle Brown.
Orient-Macksburg concluded the first day with a 10-2 triumph over Diagonal. Player of the game was O-M’s Courtney Neal.
On Saturday in consolation play, Mormon Trail meets East Union at 9 a.m. and Grandview Park Baptist takes on Diagonal at 10:30 a.m. Games for seventh place and fifth place are at noon and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
Semifinal matchups are Nodaway Valley vs. Murray at 3 p.m., followed by Lenox vs. Orient-Macksburg at 4:30 p.m. Third place game is at 6 p.m. followed by the championship game at 7:30 p.m.

LENOX — Lenox broke open a 2-1 game with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a series of bunts in a 9-2 victory over Nodaway Valley Tuesday night.
Catcher Aurora Arevalo had two hits and drove in three runs for Lenox. Katie Dukes stole two bases with a walk. Winning pitcher Bethany Christensen struck out four, walked one and allowed eight hits.
Paige McElfish, Christine Gross and Emily Huntington each doubled for Nodaway Valley. Josie Carter, Kadee Eblen and Huntington each had two hits. McElfish took the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
