No citations were issued after an accident 8:30 a.m. Friday on West Taylor Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Steven Michael Sandgren, 36, of Kansas, driving a 2012 Freightliner tractor and semi-trailer east on West Taylor, attempted to make a wide turn into an alley after Birch Street and struck a 2013 Kenworth tractor and semi-trailer driven east on West Taylor by Ralph Dean Marxen, 57, 803 W. Howard St. Marxen said he did not see a turning signal from Sandgren’s vehicle, and did not have time to stop when he realized Sandgren was turning. A witness to the accident said Sandgren’s vehicle did not have the turning signal on. Sandgren said he believed Marxen was on his cell phone during the accident. A check of Marxen’s cell phone showed he was not talking on it.

Property damage was done when Marxen’s vehicle lost the tire off the rim and the rim dug into the ground. Damage was also done when Sandgren drove into the yard of Gary Herzberg, 811 S. Birch St.

Damage estimates are $2,000 to Sandgren’s vehicle, $7,000 to Marxen’s vehicle and $100 to Herzberg’s yard.
