Sherman L. Bathurst, 60, of Creston, formerly of Clearfield, died June 27, 2014 at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1 at United Methodist Church in Clearfield with Rev. Shermaine McAlpine officiating. Burial is in Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield.

Visitation will be held at United Methodist Church in Clearfield on Monday, June 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the new community building at the Clearfield School. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Clearfield and Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.watsonarmstrongfh.com.

Sherman was born January 24, 1954 in Creston to Phyllis LaVon (Gaule) and Samuel Sherman Bathurst.

Sherman was raised in Clearfield and attended Clearfield and Lenox schools. In 1987, he moved to Creston where he lived the remainder of his life. Sherm worked at the Sheltered Workshop, which later became Innovative Industries and had also worked at McDonalds.

Sherman is survived by his sister Michelle (husband Larry) Brammer of Clearfield, nephews Bruce Brammer and Wade (wife Kristine) Brammer, great-nephews Samuel Eugene and Cameron Ryan Brammer and great-niece Shayna Ann Davis, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Sherman is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Cliff and Leota Gaule and Guy and Mary Bathurst.
