Cancellations

Weather concerns and other developments have led to several postponements and cancellations.

• Creston's JV and varsity baseball games scheduled at Osceola Clarke Friday night were cancelled. Creston Activities Director Jeff Bevins said it's unlikely a makeup date will be set.

• Creston's ninth-grade softball games at Winterset were cancelled Friday. Also, the freshman softball games against Winterset Tuesday have been cancelled.

• Southwest Valley baseball and softball games against Southeast Warren were postponed Friday. Makeup date will be announced later.

Iowa Games

Two deadlines for Iowa Games sports have been announced for the upcoming sports festival.

The 2014 Summer Iowa Games Youth Baseball Tournament will be held July 26-27 at the Hunziker Youth Sports Complex in Ames. Age groups are 10-and-under, 12-and-under and 14-and-under.

Early registration deadline is Wednesday, July 2, both online and postal. Entry fee is $250 per team. Go online www.iowagames.org or call 888-777-8881.

The 2014 Summer Iowa Games 5 on 5 Basketball Tournament will be held July 19-20 at Ames area gyms. Divisions will be held for adult men, high school girls and youth/high school boys on July 19; and adult men/women and youth girls on July 20.

Opening ceremony for the Iowa Games is 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 18, featuring keynote speaker Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors.
