From Marion E. Chubick, U.S. Army veteran
I think it would be great to have a salute to our veterans in the paper at least once a week of those living in and around Creston, Union County, starting with the WWII personnel first. We are losing around 1,000 WWII personnel every day, and we need to thank them many times over for the great sacrifice they have given for God and country, that we enjoy the freedom we have today. We also need to do it for those that served in the Korean, Vietnam, Cold War, Desert Storm and others still going on.
I think at least three names a week would be great. All you would need is two veterans and two ladies who may have served in the military meet once a month to come up with the names. Just an idea, but I thought a worthy one.
