William Gissible Carlisle

William “Bill” Vernon Gissible, passed away at the age of 71, peacefully at home on the morning of July 9th, 2014.

Bill was born on April 18th, 1943 at home in Orient, IA. Bill was the only son of five children born to Vernon and June Gissible.

Bill lived the majority of his life around the Des Moines area. He spent the last 22 years near Carlisle, IA.

Bill served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

Bill spent the last 30 years working for Doors, Inc. A job he truly enjoyed.

His true passion and what he most enjoyed was drag racing his “Nova” at Eddyville Raceway.

Bill was a vehicle enthusiast. He owned several different ones over his lifetime.

When Bill wasn’t racing, he was spending time working on his cars in his garage and with his family.

The twinkle of his eye was his two grandchilden, Miah June and Gannon William Storm. He was the best Dad and Grandpa we could have had.

Bill is survived by his two children, Neal Gissible and Kathy (Jeremy) Storm; two grandchildren, Miah and Gannon Storm; four sisters, Connie (Pete) Lyles, Marlyn (Dana) Rectenbaugh, Beverly (Carroll) Brewer, and Phillys (Harvey) Dillenburg. Along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, Vernon and June (Zimmerli) Gissible; aunt, Elva Gissible, uncles, Alan and Floyd Zimmerli, nephew, Darin Merritt and niece Christina Merritt.

We will celebrate Bill’s life at Peterson’s Funeral Home in Indianola, Iowa. Visitation for Bill will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 and his funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery, Nevinville, Iowa. Online condolences can be made to www.petersonfuneralservice.com.
