What about the Gibson family?

Creston

What a slam in the face to the Matilda J. Gibson family. In reading the article in the Creston paper Tuesday, July 8, the article states the Gibson family wants nothing to do with the new library. Why should they? I hope you didn’t ask them for a donation. The Gibsons gave that as a gift years ago to the city and you want to do away with it. So what offices and etc. do you have in mind to put in the current library? You surely have an idea that you don’t want the community to know about. It’s not an office building, it’s a library.

I can’t imagine the council even wanting to approve a new name for a library. The people wanting the new library, when they pass on, then we have our younger generation left with an ugly building and lots of debt, even though you’re not going to use taxpayer money. Now come on, I don’t believe one word of that.

The people born and raised here and who still live here know what Creston’s heritage is all about. One of the things is the current library. You bring in this lady to tell you how to fundraise. She don’t have a clue what Creston needs, and what we need to keep here, including the library.

As I have said before, most of the community does not want a new library. So what are you thinking? What part of “no” do you not understand?

Why do you think the Creston school system gave up the Lincoln School? It was going to be a headache. It will be interesting to see what members of the city council will vote the new name in. So people remember election time. The council should work for us. We don’t work for them.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this is mine.
