From Ruby Stephens
The 4-H Horse and Riders Club is starting the Union County Fair early.
July 18, Friday, 5 to 9 p.m. we will be celebrating 50 years with food, a slide show and program with stories and memories.
John and Ruby Stephens started the 4-H Horse and Riders Club so those who had a horse project could do something besides showing their horse at halter. We added performance classes so the members could show in riding classes as well as halter classes. Ruby is helping to see many of the members who belonged during the 18 years they were leaders. Spread the word to other past members.
There have been many leaders (approximately 40) down through the years and they would also like to see and visit with those who were members during their years as leaders. Come one. Come all.
July 19, Saturday, first day of the Union County Fair at 9 a.m. is the Union County open horse show. There will be classes for alumni 4-H members. Bring your horse or there will be horses available to borrow. More chances to see and visit with friends.
July 20, Sunday, 6 p.m. Union County fair parade. Join us at the fairgrounds to ride your horse or ride in the wagon with Dannie.
