Teresa (Carroll) Boyle

May 22, 2014, Teresa Imelda “Mel” Boyle passed away after ten years of suffering from Alzheimer’s with family members at her side at Silverado Senior Living, in Escondido, California where she was a resident. Mel was 88 years old.

Imelda was born on October 20, 1925 in Creston, Iowa. She was the youngest child of John T., and Rose Cavanaugh Carroll. Mel graduated with a B.S. in Nursing from St. Teresa’s College, in Winona, Minnesota and received her RN from St. Mary’s College, Rochester, Minnesota. She graduated from Creston High School in 1942.

She was devoted to her family and the many patients she cared for at various convalescent homes in Escondido during her 41 years as an RN. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, researching family genealogy, and reading.

Mel was predeceased by her husband Peter, as well as her parents, brother Joe Carroll, and sisters Virginia Carroll, Rosemary Zuttermeister, and Bernadette Carroll.

She is survived by her daughters and in-laws: Kathleen Boyle; Patricia and Bill Harville; Pamela Patton; Joan and Ken Downen; and by her sons and in-laws: John and Tomi; Peter and Linda; as well as 8 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
