Rams advance in ninth inning

ATLANTIC — Dru Little hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning lifting Glenwood to a 6-5 win over Atlantic in a Class 3A semifinal game here Friday.

The Rams and Trojans were in a 5-5 deadlock since the fourth inning.

Corey Bertini hit his 13th home run of the season in the Rams’ fourth inning. Brady Wheeler picked up the pitching win in relief of Cob Baker. He struck out six over the final 2 2/3 innings, and also had two hits and two runs scored. Baker had three hits for the Rams and Little had two, including the game-winner.

Tristan Benn took the loss for Atlantic (16-13). He fanned nine batters, including five straight in one stretch.

Glenwood (22-10) takes on Creston at 7 p.m. today in Atlantic for the district championship. The Rams won the two previous meetings by scores of 2-1 and 3-1.
