volunteers help Habitat for Humanity

Published: Wednesday, July 23, 2014 12:49 p.m. CST

On July 1 and 2, a group of men from First National Bank of Creston pitched in to do the sidewalks around house No. 5 for Habitat for Humanity of Union County at 600 W. Montgomery St.

Austin Berry, Dennis Black, Chris Eaton, Bruce Jones and Dan Waigand worked through rain and in the mud both days to set forms, level the grade, pour the concrete, trowel it and finish it with a broomed finish.

Steps to complete the house include pouring a small drive and grading and seeding the yard. Volunteers may be needed to help with two handicap accessibility ramps. Anyone interested in helping with finishing the house or the ramps may contact Habitat for Humanity at its website unionhfh.org or by phone at 641-782-5095 Ext. 4.
