Alice Beebe, 56, of rural Lenox died July 19, 2014, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Cromwell. The Rev. Delores Doench will officiate. Burial will be private in Morgan Cemetery near Kent. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. Alice Rajeanne (McAuley) Beebe, daughter of Pauline (Gardner) and Ray McAuley, was born Nov. 1, 1957, in Corning.
Alice graduated from East Union High School in 1976 and then studied two years in computer programming at Southwestern Community College and one year at Buena Vista.
Alice lived and worked out of Creston. Early on, Alice worked at Pamida in Creston and for Karen Haven Accounting, doing accounting and caring for her Jersey cow herd. She worked as a bookkeeper at Draper, Snodgrass and Mikkelsen and also at the local Matura office. She was also a cook for Mosbey’s of Stringtown, Corning Country Club, The Windrow and Crest Haven Care Center.
On April 15, 1993, Alice married Gary Roland Beebe in Cromwell. They lived all of their married life in the Kent area.
The past 12 years, Alice worked in production doing sawing at Traco Windows in Red Oak.
Alice was a member of Creston Women’s Bowling Association, State and National Bowlers Association and Creston Elks Lodge.
Alice is survived by her husband Gary Beebe of rural Lenox; daughter Cynthia (husband Wesley) Travis of Atoka, Tenn.; sons, Paul Beebe of New Virginia, Donnie (wife Val) Beebe of Creston, James Robinson of Corning and Chris (wife Jolene) Beebe of Saint Anthony; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay Winter of Warrensburg, Mo., Evelyn McAuley of Dearborn, Mo., Suez Mysiewicz of Knob Noster, Mo., and Elaine Bolinger (significant other Mark Cade) of Sharpsburg; and brothers, Clifford (wife Patty) Barnhart of Essex and Neil Barnhart (significant other Sharon) of Corning.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy; half brother Robert Barnhart in 2005 and several aunts, uncles and two brothers-in-law.
