James Wilson Creston

James Wilson, 63, of Creston died July 19, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Ken Halbur Jr. will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. and an 8 p.m. Christian Wake Service at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. James Michael Wilson, son of Virginia Maxine (Emhoff) and Ray Everett Wilson, was born April 20, 1951, in Creston.

James was educated in Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School in 1969.

Early in his adult life, James began farming. Together with his brother Raymond, James farmed the Wilson Family Farm for many years. James began working part-time for UPS washing delivery trucks. A few years later he started as a full-time loader and was then promoted to a driver. James retired from UPS after 33 years of service, in part, because of his declining health.

James served in the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam era, but was never called into active duty.

James was a member of the Teamsters Union and served as the union steward for many years. James was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

James is survived by his long-time partner since 1997 Ginny Fett of Creston; Ginny’s daughter Keri Johnson of West Des Moines; Ginny’s grandson Derek Johnson; sister-in-law Suzie Wilson-McCall of Fontanelle; niece Erin (Steve) Wilson-Murty of Gladbrook; nephew Chris (Carolyn) Wilson of Creston; great-nieces, Rhianna and Skyler Murty; great-nephews, Kaden Wilson and Conner and Layne Murty; and numerous cousins and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond Wilson.
