Agenda includes: public forum; possible resolutions to appoint Rich Madison to council to fill 2nd Ward vacancy; agreement with Alan Gates for use of electricity; special assess unpaid mowing nuisances; request by Habitat for Humanity of Union County for $10,000 grant from the low-to-moderate income fund to assist with completion of home at 600 W. Montgomery; accept Elevate Iowa Advanced Manufacturing Grant of $500 on behalf of the library; reappoint Gary Bucklin to the Board of Adjustment with term expiring July 1, 2017; rezoning lots 895, 896 and 897 and the vacated portion of Oak Street lying between lots 895 and 896 of the original plat to the city of Creston from I-1 light commercial to C-1 commercial based on the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission; request by Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Committee for $5,000 from the hotel/motel fund to assist with some of the expenses involved with the event; temporary street/parking lot closings for Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days Maple Street from Adams to Montgomery and alley at Maple from 8 p.m. Sept. 19 to 6 p.m. Sept. 20; Montgomery from Cherry to Walnut, west depot parking lot from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20, east depot parking lot from 6 a.m. to noon Sept. 20, no parking on South Cherry from Taylor Street to city limits for safety of the public 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 and traffic control at Highway 34 and South Cherry after liftoff Sept. 20 in the morning, afternoon and after night glow.
