Creston FFA members Madison Travis and Rebecca Watson are the chapter’s Senior and Junior Iowa State Fair Cowgirl Queen candidates for 2014. Travis and Watson will represent the Creston FFA Chapter at the Iowa State Fair Cowgirl Queen competition 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Jacobson Exhibition Center.

The chapter holds an annual cowgirl queen show for interested Creston FFA members. Cowgirl queen contestants are evaluated on their poise and horsemanship skills in the arena. Judging includes 50 percent on beauty, attractiveness and appropriateness of Western attire and 50 percent on horsemanship of the rider (not the horse). In addition, contestants were evaluated on their ability to demonstrate the “Queen Salute” and perform a riding pattern.

Watson, daughter of Carl and Donna Watson, was crowned Creston FFA’s Junior Cowgirl Queen, and Madison Travis, daughter of Jamie and Megan Travis, was crowned Creston FFA’s Senior Cowgirl Queen.
