Creston Chamber of Commerce August Happenings

Published: Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 11:05 a.m. CST

Creston Recognized as a Certified Connected Community by the State of Iowa

Earlier this week Creston was recognized as the fifth Certified Connected Community in the State of Iowa. Through the efforts of the Creston Chamber, SICOG, UCDA and others, we were able to demonstrate the broadband and technology capabilities in our area that are bettering our business and economic development environment, improving upon healthcare, providing more efficient government, enhanced education and improved quality of life for the people of Creston.

Though it was great to be honored, those involved realize that we must continue to move forward in this area to continue to grow and prosper.

37th Annual Creston/Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days

Planning for the 37th Annual Creston/Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days is well underway. There will once again be the Friday Night Fun Flight on the Sept. 19, weather permitting. In addition to the 50 plus balloons that will be participating in the event, there will be the annual parade of bands, as well as the craft show and flea market, 5K run and the Show and Shine Car Show. Information on these and other activities are currently available at the chamber or at the chamber website at www.crestoniowachamber.com.

The 2014 balloon T-shirts, sweatshirts and pins are available at Creston Chamber of Commerce, 208 W. Taylor St./Hwy 34 W. Stop by early for the best selection.

Hi-Five Honor

The following individuals received the Hi-Five Honors in August: Mindy Stalker, Curves; Roberta Henry, McDonald’s; Bonnie Hodges, Hy-Vee; and Rick Pettegrew, Hy-Vee.  Congratulations all.

The Hi-Five for Service allows us to recognize those who make shopping and doing business in Creston a rewarding and positive experience. Please call the Chamber to honor a business or individual with a Hi-Five.

Gold Star Business Honored

The chamber honored The Pizza Ranch this month as the August Gold Star Business in Creston. They were nominated by their fellow Crestonians because of the appearance both inside and out of their building. Congratulations.

Just call the chamber to acknowledge a business property and tell us why you think this business should be a Gold Star Business.
