David Friday Lorimor

David L. “Buckeye” Friday, 76, of Lorimor died Aug. 8, 2014, at his home near Lorimor.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Ochiltree Funeral Services in Winterset. Burial will be held in Lorimor Cemetery after the service. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.ochiltree.com.

David Larry Friday, son of Orpha Irene (Stroup) and Lyle Albert Friday, was born Jan. 6, 1938, in Osceola.

David served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1955-58, where he was qualified as a sharp shooter. During his service, he served one year in Korea and two years in Japan.

On Feb. 8, 1959, David married Christie Fay Flesher in Winterset.

David lived nearly all of his life in the Lorimor area where he farmed the family farm.

David was a member of Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and Lorimor United Methodist Church. David also served his community as a 4-H leader of New Hope Boosters, and was a member of Union County Sherriff’s Posse and Union County Trustees.

David is survived by his wife Christie; son Ricky David (Juanita) Friday; daughters, Kelly Renee (Alan) Weis of Afton and Michelle Rene (Kenny) Nulph of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Jane Miklus of Des Moines, Barbara Joan Loy of Winterset and Karen Sue (John) Manning of Belvidere, Ill.

David was preceded in death by his parents.
