Evelyn Chapman, 91, of Creston died Friday, Aug. 22, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Creston First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Chaplin Matthew Novontny will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today with family present 6 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston. B. Evelyn Chapman, daughter of Verna Almena (Crowell) and Arthur Ellis Schrodt, was born July 17, 1923, in Corning.
Evelyn attended Creston Schools.
On Jan. 1, 1941, Evelyn married Wayne Stevens in Corning; they were later divorced.
On Nov. 19, 1960, Evelyn married Harvey Spencer Chapman in Jefferson.
They settled on a farm in rural Adams County near Prescott in 1960.
Evelyn was an active mother and housewife. She also raised chickens and worked as a cook at Prescott Schools and Greater Regional Medical Center.
Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Doll Club and Eagles Lodge No. 1398.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Beverly (husband Jim) Roberts of Creston; grandchildren, Julie and Craig Cordell, both of Creston; great-grandchildren, Jason (wife Deb) Cordell of Center Point, Lacey (husband Nick) Giunta of Urbandale and Kyla Moffit (finance Aaron O’Boyle) of Altoona; great-great-grandchildren, Gus and A.J. Giunta and Lola Cordell; sister-in-law Helen Jean Schrodt of Sun Lake, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Grace Crigger and Dora Donner; brothers, Leo Arthur Schrodt and John Raymond Schrodt; son-in-law Eugene Cordell and grandson Troy Cordell.
