Spartans drop two at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN — The Southwestern women’s basketball lost a pair of games this weekend in Marshalltown, falling 67-65 to Kishwaukee (Ill.) in overtime and 74-55 to Sauk Valley (Ill.). Against Kishwaukee on Friday, Shelby Wright led the Spartans with 14 points while Kim Wolfer collected a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Southwestern started slow out of the gates, trailing 32-22 at hafltime, But in the second half, the Spartans created offense off of defense to force overtime, tying the game at 57-57. “In overtime, they came out right away and knocked down a 3-pointer and a couple of jump shots,” said Southwestern coach Buck Scheel. “We were fighting from behind throughout overtime. We got some free throws to get within two and we had a shot bank in and out at the buzzer.” Against Sauk Valley on Saturday, a cold shooting first half resulted in the Spartans trailing 43-25 at halftime. Southwestern shot just 30 percent from the field for the game. “We just didn’t play well at all,” said Scheel. “We shot very poorly in the first half. With our low numbers, it’s tough to play two games in a row.” Tiffany Troutwine led the team with 18 points. Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
